In this work, love is connected to the desire to be beautiful, visible, and desired. The figure seems to cover herself, yet this gesture does not read as shyness. Rather, it becomes part of the game: by hiding the body, she directs even more attention toward it. Her image is built on an excess of attractiveness: long hair, bright lips, stockings, and an emphasized pose turn the body into a carefully constructed appearance. Beauty here does not seem accidental, it is deliberately presented to the viewer. The work speaks about the fine line between flirtation and self-admiration. It is not a critique of the desire to be beautiful, but an observation of the moment when one’s own attractiveness becomes a performance in which all the trump cards are placed on the table at once.
