The artist turns to the genre of vanitas, but translates it into the language of contemporary corporeality and consumption. Here, the banquet table becomes not merely a still life, but a stage where food, candles, fruit, and fragments of the body form a single decorative system. The celebration in this work appears not only seductive, but also frightening, while abundance no longer brings joy: it turns the body into part of the banquet setting. The boundary between an object of desire and an object of consumption becomes almost indistinguishable. The work speaks about how the pursuit of external beauty can become a form of sophisticated violence. Here, the body turns into a thing: an ornament, a dish, a sign of barbaric luxury.
