Hell

This work grew out of my experience of relocation and living between several countries. The first sketches appeared in Turkey as an attempt to transform anxiety, uncertainty, and inner tension into a system of imaginary characters. Later, drawing alone no longer felt sufficient, and I began embroidering these images, translating them into a slow, physical process of working with fabric, thread, and needles. The work ultimately developed over the course of three years, while the embroidery itself took more than six months. Symbolically, the sketches were begun in Turkey, the embroidery was created in Moscow, and the work was completed back in Turkey. For me, this formed a closed cycle: a personal history of movement became a map of an inner landscape and an attempt to reassemble myself. The fantastical creatures on the fabric come together as a single narrative of transition, memory, and transformation.
